School members of OMA may post classified ads for no charge by emailing the ad to us. Individual members may also run classified ads for themselves at no charge, but ads on behalf of non-member schools will be charged the fee for advertising.

Non-members may email us an ad and we will post it for a fee of $50. Ads are kept for 2 months. We ask that all ads be related to employment at Montessori schools, the selling or purchasing of Montessori materials, or other matters of general professional interest to our membership. Part-time  Afternoon Toddler Assistant

Part-time  Afternoon Toddler Assistant position approx. 3:00 – 6:00 p.m Mon. -Fri. at a Montessori preschool (near Downtown Portland).

Need to begin VERY SOON.

compensation: $13.50/hr. or higher, depending on experience

Duties include classroom aide, children under 3 y.o., some cleaning and organizing of classroom materials, and communicating with morning teachers.

Late afternoon hours, with opportunity for more in future. Summer schedule includes one week off in June, and two-plus weeks off in August. School-year calendar for the rest of the year.

This is a small preschool and toddler program located in a desirable location near Downtown Portland.

Our staff is a congenial team of hardworking and talented people, and you can become a member of that team. Public transportation is excellent here, as is bicycle access. The neighborhood and our school community are both very diverse. Our facility is attractive, well equipped, and was designed expressly for this purpose.

Elementary Aftercare Assistant staff are part of a team that works with the Elementary Aftercare Supervisor to supervise and plan programming for students enrolled in the afternoon program from 3 to 6 p.m.  The Aftercare Assistant helps to maintain the aftercare classroom environment.  Our ideal candidate has a background working with and supervising children, ability and interest in supporting a range of engaging afternoon activities, and a strong communication and collaboration skills.  Some additional work hours may be available substituting during the school day or supporting our school’s kitchen or managing our art room – please indicate in cover letter if these other opportunities are of interest.

Upper Elementary Assistant Guide

Chickadee Montessori LLC is a small 2.5-6 program in the Cedar Mill area of west Portland. Chickadee is a wonderful, fully equipped, all-day (7:30-5:30) all-year Children’s House. And with a half-acre of forest, plus garden areas and chickens, we love being able to provide the children with both a rich Montessori education and invaluable daily experiences in the natural world. Our staff array includes two trained Montessori guides (owner and co-teacher) plus an assistant, and then a young, late care assistant too. We seek to fill a two-staged position: first, in the summer months of July and August, we need a new staff person who will work full time, with somewhat flexible hours on different days of the week. This person could be a newly trained Montessori guide, or if not trained, at least experienced in Montessori education.

Then, in the fall, this person would shift to a regular part-time schedule plus substitute hours, with the details to be worked out late in the summer.

Primary Guide

River Song School in Bend, Oregon, is hiring for a Primary Guide to start by the beginning of June.

Our non-profit school runs year-round, offering a summer Montessori Art program and children have access to an indoor and outdoor garden and beautiful riverside park, as well as weekly yoga.

The lead guide would be taking over an established classroom and is responsible for maintaining the classroom and student records, communicating with parents and other staff members, following school policies, offering Montessori lessons in keeping with his or her albums, creating materials, monthly newsletter submission, and helping with events. Assistant Guide

Sunstone Montessori School, an AMI Montessori school serving 200 children from toddler to upper elementary in John’s Landing, has an upcoming opening for an Assistant Guide in an All-Year Montessori (AYM) Children’s House classroom. Ideally, the position would begin in June, or berfore; however, we are willing to negotiate a start date later in the summer for the right candidate.

The Assistant Guide typically works from 8:30 to 5:45 daily, year-round (with 30 paid vacation days, plus PTO/sick days), supporting the Lead Guide and leading the classroom when the Lead Guide is not present. The program runs from 7:30-5:30 and flexibility to work a 9-hour shift (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch and two 10-minute paid breaks) within this time frame is essential.

Full-time Classroom Assistant:

We are looking for a full-time assistant to join one of our Children’s House communities, working with children ages 2 ½ – 6. Alongside the Guide, the assistant helps to maintain a calm, clean, and joyful learning environment for the children. Applicants should be consistent and calm, as well as maintain a flexibility to meet the needs of the moment when working with the children and other adults. This is an hourly position working Monday through Friday from 7:30 – 3:30 p.m. The position pays between $14 – $16 per hour based on experience. Part-time Outdoor Garden Lead:

We are looking for a part-time person to guide our outdoor learning environment; a purposeful extension of our Primary classrooms. Some basic gardening experience is necessary, as well as a love of being outside in the natural world.
