School members of OMA may post classified ads for no charge by emailing the ad to us. Individual members may also run classified ads for themselves at no charge, but ads on behalf of non-member schools will be charged the fee for advertising.

Non-members may email us an ad and we will post it for a fee of $50. Ads are kept for 2 months. We ask that all ads be related to employment at Montessori schools, the selling or purchasing of Montessori materials, or other matters of general professional interest to our membership. Elementary Aftercare Assistants staff are part of a team that works with the Elementary Aftercare Supervisor to supervise and plan programming for students enrolled in the afternoon program from 3 to 6 p.m. The Aftercare Assistant helps to maintain the aftercare classroom environment. Our ideal candidate has a background working with and supervising children, ability and interest in supporting a range of engaging afternoon activities, and a strong communication and collaboration skills. Some additional work hours may be available substituting during the school day. The wage range for this position begins at $13.50/hour.

As mandated by the Oregon Office of Child Care (OCC), the Physical Education Specialist and Elementary Aftercare Assistant positions would require the applicants to complete a criminal history check before hire and enrollment in the OCC Central Background Registry (CBR). Cascadia School Seeks Lower Elementary Assistant

Cascadia School is expanding its elementary program. We are seeking a Lower Elementary Assistant (1st-3rd grade) starting in August 2015. This full time position is based on a 40 hour work week. The classroom assistant’s role is to support the Guide by supporting the students, organizational tasks, maintaining classroom environment, playground supervision and general duties related to the classroom community.

Montessori House of St. Johns seeks Spanish speaking assistant

The Montessori House of St Johns is a strong, supportive, and vibrant community that serves families with children walking through 6 years of age. We have created nurturing communities for the holistic development of toddlers and preschoolers.

Portland Montessori Collaborative Seeks Classroom Assistant

Portland Montessori Collaborative seeks a creative, flexible and grounded person to be a floating infant/preschool classroom assistant for our school. We are a Montessori school for children ages three months through six years of age. Applicants without qualifying experience working with children under six will not be considered.

This is a part time position (with opportunities for more hours as a sub) to start late August.  This position involves working with infants and preschoolers and with many adults, cleaning, gardening, and assisting children with mealtimes, bathroom, and sleep.  This position requires an ability to be outside in any weather. Montessori experience not necessary, however a respect for children and what they can teach you is a requirement. A sense of humor is non-negotiable.

Before starting this position, you must be enrolled in Central Background Registry, have a current Food Handler Card, be current in Infant/Child First Aid/CPR, and have taken RCAAN. You must have a step 4 or higher on the Oregon Registry.

The Earth Tortoise School is Seeking an Infant Guide

The Earth Tortoise School is a small infant and toddler Montessori program in East Portland. Primary Support Staff

Childpeace Montessori is seeking just the right person for a new and unique primary-level support position, beginning August 31, 2015. This person would begin at 7:15 and lead an early morning care group, then continue through the morning in support of two classrooms — particularly working with special needs children, preparing materials, and taking observation notes as requested. We are hoping to find someone who has a base of experience in a Montessori environment, since that person will need to gracefully weave her way in and out of the classrooms during the morning work time. Afternoon hours include supporting a positive, safe environment during lunch, on the playground, in the nap rooms, and during dismissal.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30pm

Position would include classroom assistance, playground, lunch supervision,
light cleaning, classroom preparation and some dishwashing.

Child Care Provider/Teacher needed for in-home bilingual preschool

This program is hosted in a residential house, with Teacher’s residence (3bed1bath), and classroom (800 sq.ft), on over .6 acre, huge back yard. In one of the highest income level neighborhood in Portland. This program is ideal for an experienced teacher who wants her own classroom, who wants to work from home. Option to work part time. Free housing.

About the Program:

Owner Lillian Sun, native Chinese speaker who originally from Beijing and went to graduate school in Boston and moved with family to Oregon in 2005, was first exposed to Montessori and wanted to started a bilingual school for her first son in winter 2007… it was not possible with two young children back then (2 and 0). Eventually Lillian started this program 3 yrs ago with Chinese immersion and non-Montessori method due to resource limitation (Lillian was the free labor of course). The business has developed to the point that the small but cozy and cute school can compensate well to attract a Montessori teacher. We hope this teacher will recognize the opportunity and continue to grow with us.

Tree of Life Montessori Seeks Primary Assistant

Tree of Life Montessori, a new and growing Jewish home-based school in Southeast Portland seeks a full-time primary assistant for Fall 2015, 8:00-4:00 daily. We will have 10 children enrolled starting in September, with more joining mid-year. We are seeking a dependable, creative, and loving assistant who knows how to support the lead teacher as well as the children appropriately and independently.

Wage starting at $12/hr depending on experience/health benefit.

Requirements:
•At least one year classroom experience (Montessori preferred, but not necessary)
•Enrollment in the Oregon Central Background Registry, Current CPR/1st Aid, RRCAN, and Food Handlers.   Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect certificate required within 90 days of hire.
•Knowledge and/or experience with Jewish culture and practice is a plus, but not a requirement!
