The Susie Huston Memorial Award for Outstanding Teaching

This year’s Outstanding Dedication Award is being given to a group in acknowledgement of their work for making it possible for Montessori practitioners to receive high-level steps on the Oregon Registry system if the practitioners trained at a MACTE accredited training center:  Ingrid Anderson, of the Oregon Center for Career Development in Childhood Care and Education (OCCD); Mercedes Castle, of the Portland Montessori Collaborative; Rebecca Pelton, the Executive Director of the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education; and Stacey Edwards Russo, of Child’s View Montessori School.  The link below provides more detail about the award.

The Outstanding Dedication Award

Congratulations to each of you!

We will celebrate those who will be newly graduating into the community from their teacher training courses.

Jada Rupley, the Director of Oregon’s Early Learning Division, will give a short presentation and offer time for Questions & Answers.  This is a wonderful opportunity to come and learn about new initiatives happening in Early Childhood Education in Oregon!

Being with Babies/Being with Toddlers Series

Being with Babies/Being with Toddlers is a workshop series developed by Mercedes Castle of All Roads Learning Community and Portland Montessori Collaborative. The topics outlined in the series draw primarily from writings and practices of Dr. Maria Montessori and Dr. Sylvana Montanaro, as well as from Magda Gerber (RIE), and Loris Malguzzi and the schools of, and inspired by, Reggio Emelia. This transformative series may be taken as individual sessions that are credited as two hours of professional development recognized by the Oregon Registry as Set One Trainings, and aligned to Core Knowledge Categories.  These sessions will be appropriate for the beginning teacher, but provocative enough for the seasoned practitioner.

All classes will be facilitated by Mercedes Castle, founder of All Roads Learning Community and co-founder of the Portland Montessori Collaborative. Mercedes is an Oregon Registry Community Trainer and Course Instructor at the MTEC-SFBA.  Mercedes holds a B.A. degree in Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz and is an AMS accredited I/T guide with over ten years experience in the classroom.
